Things to bear in mind when delivering training

Delivering training can be nerve-wracking
You have to get up in front of a group of your peers and attempt to teach them something that many will think they know already. Keeping them engaged while making sure you are imparting all the information they need to know can be a struggle.
If you are taking a session for the first time, here are a few of the things you will need to bear in mind to make sure it goes off without a hitch:
The 3 'P's: Prepare, prepare and prepare!
Preparation is by far the most important factor in a good training session. You should practice as much as possible before the actual event, rehearsing what you will say in front of a loved one or even just to yourself in the mirror.
There is no shame in bringing extensive notes with you - in fact, it is usually a good idea - but you need to practice reading from them with authority. If your face is covered by cue cards, or you are reduced to reading directly from a script, then people will assume you don't have much expertise in the field you are directing training in.
Be interactive
Nobody really likes being talked at for an hour or more. You need to mix up your training sessions with a few exercises, so people don't get bored. These are great ways to break up long lectures, while also often being more effective at helping people learn.
Make things visual
People are much better at picturing some things if they are presented as images. If you find yourself struggling to describe something in your own words, you could try summing it up with an image, a graph or a diagram.
This could come in the form of a slideshow, so everyone can see what you're talking about presented on a screen, or you could provide printouts. The former option is easier, but you should make sure your training venue has a projector ready for you to use otherwise your hard work will be pointless.
